Vendor Spotlight: New Age Wedding Photography by CLB Photo!

We are pleased to present our very first vendor spotlight…CLB Photography!

CLB Photography is an incredible husband/wife duo taking wedding photography to new levels. Chris LoBue and Suzanne Aris LoBue are well-known for  “BadAss” wedding coverage to brides and grooms across NJ…and beyond. We stumbled upon their style of photography a few years back and we’ve been in love ever since.

These talented photographers take each couples’ photo session and make it an adventure. They seek out the best backdrops to make their photos pop! Don’t be surprised to find unexpected locations and stunts in these shots.  We love working with them because no two wedding albums look alike and every couple looks like they’re having the time of their lives. Interested in custom engagement photos, boudoir photo sessions or “Trash The Dress” photography? They kick ass at those too…Check out some of their work below and at: http://www.clbphoto.com. Also please visit their facebook page and like it: https://www.facebook.com/CLB.Photography.of.NJ – Chris and Suzanne are available for appointments at their Red Bank studio.

Inspiration by Candlelight!

One of our clients mentioned that she wanted to host a surprise bday party for her husband’s 40th birthday. When we discussed centerpieces for the tables, she decided that she wanted to use candles as opposed to an all floral arrangement. That got me to thinking that so many times, when we brainstorm about elegant tablescapes, we automatically think flowers. But, candles are just as beautiful, if done correctly and creatively, with the right lighting and accents. Our favorite candles are votives, pillars, and floating candles. After browsing the web for inspiration, here are some we found on Pinterest….take a look!

This last one here is our favorite….have you decorated a table with all candles? Show us your design and creativity! We’d love to have you share it here with us—or vote on your favorite(s) pictured here….

On May 2nd 2012, we had the distinct pleasure of organizing all the fine details of the In Bliss Launch as they came together like a fine-tuned orchestra. The In Bliss co-founders, Rachel and Dean, asked us to work with them on this event over the past few months to put all the pieces of the puzzle together and it was truly a wonderful journey. The event was held on the main and upper levels of the modern Montclair Art Museum. Over 200 couples arrived at 7:00 pm to see what all the buzz was about. Guests were treated to fine hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails, and the latest bridal fashions. The main hall was transformed into a beautiful, soft palette where several tablescapes including lavish florals and linen designs were displayed by David Ellis Events. The exquisite lighting and draping in the room were provided by JB Lighting Productions. Entertainment was provided by LJ Entertainment. Brides were also treated to henna treatment, makeup/eyelash applications, and massages. We were told on several occasions that this was the best bridal event ever! We wish to thank all those who came together in this collaborative effort to make this event such a huge success! The evening marked the official “launching” of the In Bliss website: http://www.InBlissWeddings.com – please check out the website and start enjoying all the free information it has to offer in planning your wedding!! Special thanks to: Andy Foster Photography and Starlitz Productions for capturing the event with high style!

Get a Little Crazy!

So you can’t wait to take those beautiful photos that you’ll forever cherish of your wedding day. Do you really want to thumb through pics that look like every other couple’s wedding day? Of course not. On this day, your wedding style should be uniquely yours and this should be reflected throughout your photos.

So, here are a few tips when shopping for a photographer.

Find a photographer that matches your personality. Look through portfolios to see if he/she has the versatility and imagination to capture each couple’s style. Make sure you don’t see the same exact pictures, in the same exact setting/order in each book. The photographer should have a nice mix of both portrait and photojournalistic photos throughout their books.

Be honest. Tell the photographer what you want to achieve in your photos. I suggest a few “fun and crazy” photos like the one above. If you’re wearing funky shoes under your gown, make sure he/she gets a great shot of that! Make sure he captures that glance your groom gives you as you approach him for the first time on your wedding day. Great photographers have a keen eye for such things, but it doesn’t hurt to point out some things that are must-haves for you.

Make a list of family/friend photos that you want to take. Having this list will assist the photographer in organizing folks and getting the job done smoothly.

Your photographer should be thinking about where he wants to take shots. All your photos don’t need to be in front of the winding staircase:) Does the venue have a beautiful garden or patio? Does the venue’s bridal suite or library have beautiful furnishings? Is there a beautiful terrace overlooking a grand lawn? If you’re stumped for spots at your venue, research nearby parks or museums that you may use for photo ops.

To get the most out of your photo session, consider having some photos before the ceremony. It’ll save you time so that you can enjoy your reception without being pulled away. And it’s a beautiful way to have some special ” alone” time prior to the big moment and really absorb what you’re feeling for each other – on camera! The “first look” photos are always priceless and a lovely “private” moment.

Whatever you do, make sure you don’t forget to have fun! It’ll come across beautifully in those photographs that you’ll be viewing for a lifetime!
